Rebuilding Day 2011 Media Alert - April, 30th, 2011 is National Rebuilding Day, with volunteer activities planned by 200 Rebuilding Together affiliates in more than 1,800 communities across the United States. In Baltimore City and Baltimore County volunteers will work to rebuild homes and community centers in the neighborhoods of Pigtown/Washington Village and St. Helena. Read the press release...
Rebuilding Together PSA featuring Morgan Freeman - (Jan 11 2011) - This one minute Public Service Announcement for Rebuilding Together is narrated by the well-known actor, Mr. Morgan Freeman, co-founder of Plan!t Now. The production of this PSA campaign was generously supported by National Rebuilding Together partners HGTV and DIY Network. The video is currently being shown on more than 139 television stations across the country.
Neighborhoods Stabilized Communities Revitalized on National Rebuilding Day (PDF) - Washington D.C. - April 16, 2009 - Rebuilding Together will officially launch its 2009 campaign to preserve affordable housing by hosting the 21st annual National Rebuilding Day on April 25th. HGTV's Change the World, Start at Home Campaign to Support Baltimore's Pen Lucy and Waverly Neighborhoods (PDF) - Baltimore City is one of the five winning cities in the HGTV Change the World. Start at Home community revitalization and environmental awareness campaign. Supporters from across the nation voted for their favorite cities on the HGTV website in an online campaign that launched in early November and closed on December 21. The winning cities were announced during HGTV's coverage of the Rose Parade on New Year's Day. "We always knew that Pen Lucy was an award-winning community", said Mary Pat Clarke, one of the City Council Members for the Pen Lucy neighborhood. "We're glad the entire nation now recognizes that fact". Clarke, along with Mayor Sheila Dixon and City Council President Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, helped promote the online voting through their websites and email blasts. (more)
Baltimore Wins HGTV’s Change the World, Start at Home Contest (PDF) - Mayor Sheila Dixon, Baltimore, MD (January 3, 2008) – Home and Garden Television (HGTV) announced this week that Baltimore is one of four cities selected by the national voting public to receive a community revitalization courtesy of HGTV, Rebuilding Together, The National Trust for Historic Preservation and The Natural Resources Defense Council. Heroes at HomeSM (Website) - Washington D.C. (June 22, 2007) --- Volunteers from Sears, Kmart and Rebuilding Together helped launch Heroes at Home, a charitable program of Sears Holdings created in partnership with Rebuilding Together, the nation's leading home rehabilitation organization. The event was held Friday, June 22, 2007 at the home of Specialist Ryan Major in Silver Spring, MD. Major was critically injured while on patrol in Iraq. Heroes at Home honored this hero by providing an elevator, a wheelchair accessible bathroom and bedroom, landscaping and a deck.

Rebuilding Together Names Gary Officer President and CEO (PDF) - Washington, DC (Aug. 2006) --- The Board of Directors of Rebuilding Together, today announced that after an extensive nationwide search, it has elected Gary Officer as the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Officer will join Rebuilding Together on September 7, 2006. He replaces current President and CEO and national founder Patty Johnson who announced her retirement earlier this year after 22 years of service to Rebuilding Together, the nation’s largest volunteer home rehabilitation organization. 9th Annual Kickoff to Rebuild at Super Bowl XXXVIII (HTML) (January 30, 2004) - "More than 400 eager participants tackled the extensive rehab work on three houses located in Houston's historic Ward III - work that included repairing and replacing drywall and exterior siding, painting the homes inside and out, installing new light fixtures, refinishing floors, replacing cabinets, repairing sidewalks and repairing or replacing the roofs of two of the homes...."
