Volunteer Training 2003 at The St. Paul Mt. Washington Conference Center

Volunteer Training at The St. Paul Mt. Washington Conference Center. Thank you to The St. Paul for donating meeting space and refreshments!

A picture of one of the volunteer training sessions for House Captains and Skill Captains held at The St. Paul Mt. Washington Conference Center in 2003.

While most of the more than 1,000 volunteers who donate their time in any given year work only one day -- the last Saturday in April -- the work of House & Skill Captains extends over several weeks. As project managers and work leaders, these volunteers also perform house inspections; estimate construction costs; purchase materials and supplies; plan and schedule the work; and oversee their respective projects on Rebuilding Day.

House & Skill Captains are shown videos featuring past National Rebuilding Day events, they are provided with copies of the House Captain and Skill Captain Handbook, presented with various strategies for planning their work, and assisted with selecting projects appropriate for the skill levels of their particular team of volunteers.

Thank you to The St. Paul Companies ( now The Travelers Companies ) for donating meeting space and refreshments!
