Mr. and Mrs. S
Wilson Park, Baltimore City

2025

Mr. and Mrs S, age 60 and 55, were born and raised in West Baltimore.  In 2002, they moved to the Govans neighborhood in North Baltimore. The couple were drawn to the community's quiet charm and space in the front and back for a garden. Though the neighborhood has seen changes over the years, the family loves living on their tight-knit block, where neighbors look out for one another. The house itself holds decades of memories, shaped by the family’s personalities and traditions.

As the years passed, the home's systems began to show their age. Electrical problems, water leaks, and a deteriorating bathroom made daily life harder. With limited resources for repairs and recently leaving work due to a disability, Mr. S worried about the future of his family living in the home. A neighbor told him about Rebuilding Together Baltimore, and he decided to call. Volunteers will declutter the basement, replace outlets and light fixtures, install safety and accessibility modifications in bathrooms and stairways, and complete general outdoor landscaping.

RTB will also provide the following repairs using licensed contractors:

  • Repair and reinforce the rear landing and stairs

  • Replace water-damaged windows throughout the home

For Mr. and Mrs. S, this house is more than just a place to live—it’s generational wealth and family legacy. Their daughters have expressed interest in keeping the home in the family, ensuring that the hard work and memories invested in this home endure for generations. He takes pride in that continuity, knowing that stability is one of the greatest gifts he can pass down. Rebuilding Together Baltimore plays a crucial role in helping families preserve generational wealth in their greatest asset - their home.
