Microsoft Volunteer Project – November 22, 2014

This past Saturday, November 22nd, RTB partnered with Microsoft to work on Ms. H’s home in the Woodbourne-McCabe neighborhood of Baltimore City.

Ms. H is 73 years old. She has lived on the east side of Baltimore City her whole life and moved to the Woodbourne-McCabe neighborhood 17 years ago in 1997. She has owned her current residence for 14 years. Before she bought her house, she lived next to her sister. Ms. H’s 41 year old son currently lives with her and her sister still lives down the street. She has a daughter and 2 brothers as well. Ms. H loves living in Woodbourne-McCabe because it is a quiet and friendly neighborhood. She loves the fact that her neighborhood had a lot of children when she first moved there and now a lot of seniors live in the area since many families have raised their children there and stayed even after their children have moved out.  Before Ms. H retired she was a security guard at the Housing Authority for Baltimore City for 25 years. Now that she is retired she loves to read and do puzzles

Seventeen awesome volunteers came out from Microsoft for the project They accomplished so much including installing flooring, energy efficiency improvements, installing handrails in stairways, weatherizing doorways, installing a new toilet, adding grab bars in the shower as well as a shower seat, and other major and minor household repairs and maintenance.

Thank you to everyone from Microsoft for making this day possible and to all the other volunteers that came out that day. We love our volunteers and Ms. H is very happy with the repairs done to her home.

“This is all such a blessing. I am truly thankful for all that you have done to my home. I thank you to the upmost!” -Ms. H
